Siide-Liind is a worsted spun, sport to almost DK-weight yarn, three plies (which makes it perfect for any lace projects as well) from an unusual combination of silk, merino and seacell.
This combination makes this beautiful and luminous yarn suitable for many different application ... it's perfect for those summery projects, as both the silk and the seacell will lighten it, make it oh-so-nice to wear in warmer conditions. But the merino will also add bounce and elasticiy, while knitting and wearing it.
As always, our yarn names are Swiss-German: “Liind” means 'soft' … the perfect name for this delightful yarn!
For the initial colour-collection of Siide-Liind we're offering a special collection of colours, named after our favourite Zurich sweets, the Luxemburgerli (trademark of spruengli.ch): so the names of the colourways are - for a change - not plant names but our favourite maccarons!
Each single skein weights 120g and has been hand-dyed by us in small batches of ten, with utmost care for the fiber and a true love for beautiful colours. Our dyeing technique results in colours changes that are not prone to pooling at all. For larger projects though, as with all hand-dyed yarns, we recommend to introduce a new skein while still knitting with the old one – this way, possible slight colour differences from one skein to the other will not be noticeable.
You can find Siide-Liind on Ravelry here.
The merino is not super-wash treated, so we recommend hand-washing with good quality yarn wash, as we do for all our yarns.
This yarn is available for custom orders: if you have any special requirements regarding yardage, number of same dyelot skeins or even colour, please do contact us.
